Terminal Arcade

The animated terminal blocks from svg-terminal — but now you hold the keyboard.

Zero runtime scripts in SVG; 100% interactive in web browsers. Featuring turn-based RPG boss battles against The Legacy Monolith, a classic dungeon text adventure, 8-bit Web Audio synthesizer, CRT scanlines, and 6 retro OKLCH color palettes.

Under the Hood

  • Static SVG vs Interactive Canvas: The GitHub profile showcases zero-JS animated SVGs rendered using pure SMIL and CSS. This arcade brings the same scene states into an interactive Svelte playground using Web Audio oscillators and monospace ANSI layouts.
  • OKLCH Palettes: Themes are generated with perceptual chroma matching from oklch-terminal-themes. Read the design principles in OKLCH Terminal Themes.
  • Engine Deep Dive: Read SVG Terminal: No GIFs. No script tags. to see how the deterministic terminal SVG renderer works.
